English Setter

The English Setter is a breed of dog.

Appearance

They are white with black or orange flecks, or white with black and tan flecks (tricolour). They are part of the Setter family, which includes red Irish Setters and black Gordon Setters.

Temperament

They are active dogs that need plenty of exercise. Their long, flowing coat requires regular grooming. They are happiest when they are part of the family or are working with a hunter.

History

The English Setter was originally bred to set or point upland game birds.

Miscellaneous

The name Llewellyn Setter is given to a certain strain of English Setters bred by R.L. Purcell Llewellyn to be perfect for field trials.
