Adopting a Puppy
Are you considering adopting a puppy? Most people love dogs and a dog is a great addition to the family, but before you go ahead and adopt a puppy, there are a few things that you should know.
Adopting a puppy can be very difficult. For people that work a lot, a puppy might not be the best idea. Most puppies need lots of attention, they need to play for a few hours a day and they need plenty of exercise. If you are one person living at home or a couple with no kids that spend very little time at home, then a dog is probably not for you.
A puppy would be absolutely miserable without attention and that includes playing, feeding and walking. It is also important to put aside time for training your puppy to make it house broken.
Another consideration is what type of puppy to adopt. Depending on the size of your living area and if you have children should determine what type of dog you would like. Most families usually pass on aggressive breeds such as bull dogs and Doberman Pinchers. Most families choose friendlier breeds such as golden retrievers and Labradors. You might also want to consider whether to get your puppy at an animal shelter or a rare breed from a dog breeder. So before you adopt a puppy, do some homework on what fits your lifestyle and the puppy’s lifestyle the best.
