Put Your Dog on a Diet
We mostly hear about kids or adults being obese, but recent information surfacing in the newspaper and at veterinarians also bring up the fact that many of our pets are obese as well. It is not uncommon that dogs and cats can become obese. Many of our pets follow the same routine as their owners- lots of food and little exercise. If you are finding that your pet is obese, here are a few tips to trim them down.
If your dog or cat is obese, make sure you are feeding them correctly. Many pets are getting their normal meals plus plenty of table scraps. If you pet eats table scraps, it might be a good idea to stop this practice.
It is a good idea to purchase a special pet food for your dog or cat. There are plenty of diet pet foods as well as nutritious pet foods for less active dogs and cats. Your vet can help you make a choice.
You should also consider if your pet is getting enough exercise. Make sure you walk your dog at least three times a day and not just open the back door for your dog to quickly go to the bathroom. Make sure you play with your pets and stimulate them. Talk to your vet for other options and to make sure that your dog or cat is healthy.
